Gunna celebrates Young Thug's 33rd birthday with throwback pictures

Young Thug’s 33rd birthday on Friday (Aug. 16) was acknowledged with an array of messages from fans and artists, including Gunna, who commemorated the occasion by sharing vintage photos of their joint endeavors.

Gunna shared a trio of throwback photos with Young Thug on Instagram, capturing their time together: one with a massive snake, another from a Punk album dinner party in 2021, and a third from the ‘Take It to Trial’ music video shoot, a standout track from the Slime Language 2 compilation.

Despite uncertainty surrounding Gunna’s relationship with Young Thug, he confirmed in June that he is still a signed artist on Thug’s label. He told Spotify’s RapCaviar; “I’m still providing. We are still pushing. No paperwork has been changed. So it’s like, whatever’s been getting and how we’ve been pushing this shit, it’s still going.”

Gunna’s decision to enter an Alford plea seems to have strained relationships, with peers like Lil Durk and Boosie Badazz accusing him of being a “rat.” Although Young Thug has not publicly commented, YSL Mondo spoke out earlier this month on the allegations.

Mondo wrote on social media, “I’m man enough to say I should’ve never spoken about the Gunna situation because, technically, he didn’t rat. He just kinda folded under pressure and should’ve just stayed down with his mans until everything was over ‘cause all the originals know he ain’t did nothing. He wasn’t even around from the beginning.”

Mondo continued, referencing Kenneth ‘Lil Woody’ Copeland in his statement, “He wasn’t going to do any real time regardless. I feel bad cause now a n**ga who literally is a real-life rat is running around the city getting glorified and smiling like he ain’t just send multiple n**gas to jail.”
