On Monday, Big Sean took to Instagram to tease his new single ‘On Up’ and hinted at a delay in the release of his sixth studio album, Better Me Than You, which was originally set to drop on August 9. In his post, he wrote, ‘I think I’m gonna throw a BBQ for real to end the summer with, because this song gives me that feeling! Better Me Than You album coming soon!’
A fan reacted immediately to the post in the comment section saying; “Why u saying album soon like it’s not suppose to drop on the 9th !!!???!??”
Sean replied “i gotta push it just a lil bit. Music done but jus organizing listening events, shows etc. might need a extra week or 2 to plan. 🤲🏾✨,”
Big Sean dismissed claims that the leak of his album, allegedly by a Kanye West fan or West himself, was the reason for the delay. During an Instagram Live stream in July, Sean showed his appreciation for West, stating, ‘I know he didn’t do that. I love Ye. Without him, there would be no me.’
“I’ve been a part of Kanye’s team since Graduation, contributing to and supporting every project, including 808s and Beautiful Twisted. I know he wouldn’t sabotage me like that – that’s just ridiculous. Whoever was responsible for the leak, know that it really hurt me,” Big Sean said, still without announcing a new release date for his album Better Me Than You.
